Hear it and be there
If you're into quality home entertainment, you'll know everything
about KEF's KHT2005 system - the orignal won so many awards
and 5-star ratings that it would be hard not to.
But even rave reviews can't prepare you for the experience
of listening to the latest version of the compact high performance
5.1 set-up. Those distinctive little cast aluminium enclosures
now house brand new UNI-Q® point source arrays whose sophisticated
new metal dome tweeters combine to deliver vocals that make

As before, audiophile quality components
are fitted througout - and with KEF UNI-Q®, everyone in

The active subwoofer is also brand new, it's on-board amp
driving a 250mm (10") long-throw bass driver that pumps
out a genuine 250 Watts of distortion-free bass. The magnetically
shielded satellite speakers look as good as ever: smooth,
minimal and discreet. But now there are two new finishes to
choose from - clean metallic silver or soft black, to match
your other equipment.
And yet, with all these upgrades, KHT 2005.2 costs no more
than the phenomenally succesful system it replaces. If you
really care about sound, it adds up to outstanding value.

The UNI-Q advantage
The great thing about KEF's pattented UNI-Q® driver configuration
is that it disperses sound over a much larger area than conventional
speakers, so that everyone in the room experiences 3D audio
effecrts with the same clarity and accuracy.
This is because KEF uses aerospace materials to make the tweeter
small enough to mount in the acoustic centre of the bass/midrange
cone, creating a single point source that frees you from the
usual restrictive 'sweet spot' and gives you far greater flexibility
in where the speakers can be placed. And the new UNI-Q array
in the KHT 2005.2 os better than ever, with a sophisticated
new 19mm (3/4") elliptical metal dome tweeter for enhanced
high frequency response and even more realistic vocals. |
Amazing
bass
A powerful, accurate subwoofer adds weight, depth and intensity
to the 3D sound image, and the output of KEF's new sealed box
design has been increased by 10dB at 30Hz. The integral 250
Watt amplfier drives a down-firing long-throw 250mm (10")
bass unit with exceptionally low distortion characteristics
fro clean, well defined low frequency response throughout the
room.
This generously extended bass can be fine-tuned to suit your
set-up and preferences, with a variable slope switch to ensure
seamless intergration with the satellite speakers, a ground
lift switch to prevent hum and switchable cinema/music modes
to provide extra punch for reproducing the full impact of movies
special effects. |
Better by design
KEF has always been renowned for design intergrity, and the
new KHT 2005.2 is no exception. The parabolic cast aluminium
enclosures of the satellite speakers are computer optimised
to minimise internal resonance and distortion for a purer, cleaner
sound. And being identical, there's a perfect tonal match between
the front and rear surround speakers and the centre channel,
which can be placed horizontally either above or below the TV.
The ingenious base of each speaker allows you to place them
virtually anywhere - on any flat surface, at any angle on walls,
or on the optional stands. And as they're fully magnetically
shielded, there's no risk or interferances with other equipment
nearby.
With the original KHT 2005 system, KEF engineers wanted to create
a flexible, compact system that delivered audiophile quality
3D sound at an affordable price - and the awards it received
underline how well they succeeded.
KHT2005.2 has taken things a step further, with a comprehensiveky
upgraded specification that brings listening enjoyment to a
