Overview
The Cyrus 6 XP is based on the Cyrus 8 XPd but without the digital
input option or a power supply upgrade port.

Interesting highlights
The standard 6 XP is very well specified with a generous power output,
six analogue inputs, a zone two output so you can play any source
in another part of your home, Bi-wireable speaker terminals, headphone
output with a good quality amplifier, Pre-amplifier output (for
bi-amping), large clear high quality LCD screen, and a sophisticated
control system with system remote control are all provided. Input
sensitivity matching is also included.
Quick system suggestion
The CD 6 SE is a good choice. Both benefit from being based on the
higher 8 series models and can be factory upgraded to 8 series at
a later stage.

In detail
The XP platform has been designed so that we can develop one main
project and make several versions. The 6 XP benefits from all of
the invested in the Pre XP model. We then grafted an updated version
of our 2 x 40 watt power amplifier into the 6 XP along with a new
power supply to take advantage of new components that have recently
become available. With these attributes the Cyrus Integrated 6 XP
is able to deliver remarkable performance for such an affordable
amplifier. The new power supply design has improved the peak power
output (190W peak power into a 1 Ohm load) allowing the resulting
performance to compete favorably with many amplifiers of double
it’s conservatively rated 40W RMS specifications. In addition,
the 6 XP owner has wider upgrade path through adding a digital card
or returning the amp to Cyrus for a factory upgrade to either 8
XP or ultimately the Pre XP and a matching power amp. The front
panel boasts a high quality LCD display that shows volume, the input
selected and a set-up menu that allows you to configure your amplifier
to work exactly the way that suits you.
The Cyrus 6 XP power amplifier is based around a new twin transformer
power supply that allows separation of control systems and audio.
It’s ability to drive much higher quality loudspeaker is a
clear advance compared to previous 6 series models The high performance
amplifier is based on the Cyrus 8 XP and is factory upgradeable
to the higher series model. Sharing technology with the Cyrus Integrated
8 XP, the Cyrus Integrated 6 XP is sonically voiced to match with
the wide range of Cyrus power amps to allow customers to add a stereo
amp and bi-amp loudspeaker that support this feature
The new Cyrus power supply incorporates new components that allow
the amplifier to consume less than one watt when in standby. The
second transformer also allows us to separate sensitive low level
analogue signals from digital and control systems. This results
in worthwhile acoustic benefits that had not been possible in our
previous designs plus cost and energy savings.
Upgrade options include
Expand the inputs with the ‘d’ Digital card.
Return the amp to Cyrus and have a digital card fitted that adds
5 digital inputs including a USB input that allows connection of
a computer. Anything that plays on your computer will sound much
better when played back through the high quality ‘Cyrus quality’
DAC’s on the optional ‘d’ board. The Cyrus digital
board uses a very highly specified Burr Brown DAC arranged so that
all digital sources connected benefit from the very high quality
of the DAC.
Cyrus 8 XP
This is a return to factory upgrade that upgrades any 6 XP to an
8 XP. This brings more power and a further option to add a PSX-R
power supply for even better sound. You can also upgrade to the
8 XP d model and add the benefits of the high quality DAC and digital
inputs as well.
Pre XP
This is a return to factory upgrade that converts any 6 XP to a
Pre XP. You can use the preamp with one of the wide range of audiophile
Cyrus power amps. They range from the popular 8 Power through to
the breathtaking Mono X amps. A preamplifier and separate power
amp sounds better because we have separated the power supplies.
Your retailer can demonstrate this but in effect you are allowing
each section to work with its own ‘engine’ and this helps
things sound clearer. The preamp adds a further option to add a
PSX-R power supply for even better sound.
Preamp output / bi-amping
Use the preamp section with one of the wide range of audiophile
Cyrus power amps. They range from the popular 8 Power through to
the breathtaking Mono X amps. Because they are designed with the
same sonic tuning your Cyrus 6 XP will match perfectly with an additional
power amp. Adding another power amp sounds better because you can
drive the base and treble speakers separately. (Usually the new
amp would drive the bass speakers). Your retailer can demonstrate
this but in effect you are allowing each section of the speaker
to work with its own ‘engine’ and this helps things sound
much clearer. Please check your speakers support this option.
